7th C Championship of Russia in Modern Sword Fighting 2019,
About 500 athletes from 56 clubs from 31 cities from 7 Federal Districts of Russia took part in the competition !!!
The modern knights arrived from Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Syktyvkar, Naberezhnye Chelny, Vladikavkaz, Ukhta, Nizhny Tagil, Ufa, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Shadrinsk, Nizhnekamsk, Uslye Sibirsky, Petrozavodsk, Kyshtym, Saratov, Zagnekamsk, Zynekamsk, Uslye Sibirsky, Petrozavodsk, Kyshtym, Saratov, and Volgograd The Central Federal District represented clubs in the Kaluga, Bryansk, Kursk, and Ivanovo regions, and many clubs in Moscow. The Moscow Region was represented by fighters from Krasnogorsk, Tuchkovo, and Zhukovsky.
To get to the Championship, all athletes passed qualifying competitions in their Federal Districts. Although the Modern Sword Fighting is not yet an official sport, it is striving for this, and already has a wide net of competitions throughout the country: for example, in 2018 142 MSF events were held!
The Olympic Champion of 2016 in fencing, Sofia Velikaya, attended the ceremonial opening of the Championship of Russia in MSF 2019, who greeted all the participants and wished to "go to her sporting dream and never give up." Many young athletes were very inspired by the fact that they were able to see and take pictures with a real Olympic champion.
The tight and tense first tournament day on February 9 was dedicated to the individual championship - these are one-on-one fights with the use of soft safe light sports swords and shields, as well as protective equipment made of polymeric materials. 254 fighters from 4 to 45+ years fought in 56 nominations for the right to join the Russian National Team 2019 in the MSF.
The second day - February 10 - was dedicated to the 5x5 Command Battles on the MSF with the seizure of flags. It was attended by 246 athletes from 5 to 17 years, as well as adult fighters. This is an exciting competition, where it is necessary to work together in a team, to “see the ground”, it is important not only to fence effectively but also to run fast and come up with tactical moves in order to outwit opponents and capture their flag.
The 7th Championship of Russia on the in Modern Sword Fighting 2019 is the largest and most important competition for all participants of the Small and Medium-sized Society of the Community, since it is the Qualifying tournament for the Russian National Team to participate in the World Championship of Small and Medium-Size Skating on March 8-10, 2019 in Minsk (Belarus) where participants are expected from 25 countries: Peru, USA, EU countries, CIS countries, Asia and the Middle East.
According to the results of the Individual Championship and group Championship of Russia in Modern Sword Fighting, 2019 were summarized for the total Team Medal Score:
1st place - CFD (147.62 points)
2nd place - URFD (56.75 points)
3rd place - Volga Federal District (25.86 points)
4th place - North-West Federal District (21 points)
5th place - SFD (14.56 points)
